DEVELOPMENT BOARDS

The right hardware starts with the purpose.

You do not need to choose a board before starting. The product is intended to recommend hardware based on features, connectivity, power, and size. Below are four demo configurations and additional boards for review, with manufacturer references for anyone who needs the specifications.

Try the four board presets
ESPRESSIF / MCU

ESP32 DevKit

Wi-Fi sensors and connected prototypes

Demo preset3.3 V

Examples reference DevKitC V4 documentation. Check pin layout and power circuitry on third-party variants.

Manufacturer documentation
RASPBERRY PI / MCU

Raspberry Pi Pico W

Sensor control and periodic data collection

Demo preset3.3 V

RP2040 preset, distinct from Pico 2 W. Check ADC input limits and configure the selected I²C pins.

Manufacturer documentation
ARDUINO / MCU

Arduino Nano ESP32

Compact wireless devices in the Arduino ecosystem

Demo preset3.3 V

Arduino aliases are shown alongside ESP32 GPIO numbers. Check IDE pin-numbering mode; do not connect 5 V signals directly.

Manufacturer documentation
STMICROELECTRONICS / MCU

STM32 NUCLEO-F446RE

Control and measurement prototypes with onboard debugging

Demo preset3.3 V

Uses the F446RE mapping in UM1724. Review ST-LINK, power jumpers and peripheral configuration. Wireless needs a separate module.

Manufacturer documentation
ARDUINO / MCU

Arduino UNO R4 WiFi

Existing UNO shields and control applications

Scope review5 V

Review the 5 V main I/O, level shifting for 3.3 V sensors and the chosen I²C port. No demo pin preset yet.

Manufacturer documentation
RASPBERRY PI / LINUX SBC

Raspberry Pi 5

Gateways, vision and local applications

Scope review3.3 V GPIO

Review OS, power, cooling and storage. Analog sensing needs an external ADC; MCU firmware cannot simply be reused.

Manufacturer documentation

Presets provide illustrative wiring, firmware pseudocode and budget data. They are not a compatibility certification or a manufacturer partnership.

Before switching boards

  1. Confirm the exact model, revision and I/O voltage.
  2. Update pin assignments, peripherals, drivers and build targets together.
  3. Remeasure the board, mounting holes, USB/debug access and antenna clearance.
  4. Bench-test communication, power and recovery, then record evidence against that revision.
